The library’s main fundraising arm, Browsers Corner Book Store, reopened this fall with an all-volunteer staff and to reveal a clean, tidy, spacious and streamlined used book store ready to serve customers safely and happily.

The pandemic has affected Friends in two very big ways. First, donations can no longer be accepted the same way they were pre-COVID. Doners must now drop off books, magazines, CDs and DVDs, games, puzzles and other items in “The Beast,” which is located outside the building. For larger donations, customers are asked to schedule an appointment at 775-884-4043.

Moreover, all volunteers working in the store and customers alike must wear face coverings at all times upon entering the building and maintain a distance of six feet from each other. Volunteers also get their temperatures taken when coming into work and are asked to stay home if they are sick. They must also keep track of how many people are in the store to keep the capacity at 10 customers and two volunteers at any one time.

Volunteers must also disinfect countertops and door handles frequently to ensure the stores’ surfaces are clean and disinfected at all times.

Friends is making an effort to keep Browsers Corner open amidst COVID-19 and is grateful for the community’s support and efforts to do the same.
